It’s been a busy week for the POCCA team:
1 – Yesterday Eversource wrote an announcement in the Cape Cod Times listing 5 Cape towns where they will be spraying from September 14 to December 31 2016: Barnstable, Bourne, Falmouth, Sandwich and Yarmouth.
POCCA just contacted these town Boards of Selectmen to see if they are interested in filing a lawsuit against Eversource and seeking a temporary restraining order to stop the spraying. They would be armed with an affidavit from an ecotoxicology expert stating that such applications are dangerous and unsafe. We seek $2000 of funding in order to be able to complete this action. This amount is needed for filing fees only. To donate, please visit www.poccacapecod.org ~ thank you!
2 – Sign our petition and share it: As you may know, POCCA wrote a petition to William Hayes of Eversource and Attorney General, Maura Healey asking that herbicide spraying be stopped. We received 313 signatures in just a few weeks. We seek more, so please ask your circles to go to our web site and sign our petition: www.poccacapecod.org
3 – Call Eversource: If you wish to help by calling William Hayes, he is the senior arborist in charge of herbicidal applications by Eversource: 617.441.3932 ~
4 – Add emails: The farther the outreach, the better the chances we have, right? Power in numbers will prevail so please continue to reach your loved ones and circles of friends to help with this important matter. They can add their email to our ‘Join Us’ list on the home page: www.poccacapecod.org to receive weekly update like this one.
Thank you for doing all you can to help protect the precious land we love ~
Laura Kelley, President of POCCA Cape Cod
